The Dominican Sisters

leave Tamworth NSW

after 135 years

Over the weekend of 10-11 September 2011, the Dominican Sisters of Eastern Australia and the Solomon Islands were farewelled from Tamworth NSW, where they had been part of the life of that city for 135 years.

On Sunday 11 September, there was a special Mass at St Nicholas’ Church, and over forty Sisters gathered with the people of Tamworth to give thanks and to pray God’s blessing on these wonderful people they were leaving, but whom they would not forget.

Copies of "From Generation to Generation" - a photographic chronology of the Dominican Sisters' years in Tamworth, are available at $20.00 per copy from the Dominican Administration Centre, Strathfield; the Parish Office at St Nicholas' Tamworth; and Elaine Smythe in Tamworth.
