Marie attended school at Brighton, St Joseph's Camberwell and then St Dominic's Camberwell. On completing her schooling, she worked for some years as a picture framer at Myers.
On 14 April Marie entered the Dominican Community in Maitland NSW, and was professed as Sr Mary Rosalie on 30 August 1944. 'Rosie' worked for the welfare of communities and boarders at our convents in Tamworth, Newcastle, Strathfield, Moss Vale, Maitland, Waratah, Brisbane, Camberwell. In 1948 she was a member of the founding community of our school for children with impaired hearing at Portsea.
Sr M Rosalie was always a keen environmentalist, with a deep love and passion for God's creation. She lived in Millgrove 1988-1999, and it was here she was able to carry out important work in this area. She was an ardent member of Friends of the Helmeted Honeyeater, Upper Yarra Conservation Society, Project Jonah, Australian Bush Heritage Fund, Wilderness Society, Australian Rainforest conservation Society and Save Albert Park.
After two years in Barham, she moved back to Camberwell, Melbourne in 2001, spending the last months of her life at Nazareth House, where she died on 20 December 2011.
Rosie is remembered for her gentleness, and her commitment to hallowing God's creation in all its forms.
"When I lived in Millgrove...I could absorb myself in God's creation. I needed not a chapel, nor a set time for prayer. My whole time was a prayer."
