Sr Patricia Thompson

died in Tamworth

7 January 2008

Patricia was born on 12 December 1921 in Bellingen, beloved and only child of John Thompson and Mary Nash.

For a short time Patricia went to school at St Martha's, Strathfield until her father died, then on moving to Neutral Bay with her mother, she completed the Intermediate at Monte Sant' Angelo College, and Business Studies at Stott's College.

At the outbreak of World War II, Pat enlisted and was drafted into the Special Wireless Group. In 2002 the Queensland Government recognised her 'for outstanding achievement in the area of information security at the Central Bureau during World War II'. After the war she was given the opportunity to do a science degree, and graduated in 1950.

In 1953 Pat entered the Dominican Novitiate in Maitland after thoroughly examining her options, and was professed as Sr M Nicholas in 1955. With dedication and enthusiasm Pat taught in secondary schools in Melbourne, Brisbane and NSW.

After a long illness, she went to her eternal reward on 7 January 2008.

Motto - "Let me love you, O Lord, my strength"
