"Homily with a difference! "
When God asked Solomon what gift he would choose,
Sol asked for the wisdom God’s people to rule.
God poured out this gift even knowing he’d lose.
Foreign women and riches made Solomon their tool.
The world God created was Wisdom in action.
With Beauty throughout the whole universe.
But the centre, the crown of all God’s creation
Were humans who alone with God could converse.
This God, the almighty, so loved this planet,
He decided he’d join us, be one with us here.
Thereby he’d show us the truth and its tenets
So we may be certain He always is near.
Because Jesus Christ is enfleshed in our history,
God is our Father and we are His children.
His Son’s death on the cross, lets us share in his victory.
By faith and by love, we know we are shriven.
Before He returned to His Father in heaven,
He promised to send us His Spirit to guide(us).
The life of the Three, our life it will leaven.
If we can, like Donne with the Three then abide.:
“ Batter my heart three person’d God; for you
As yet but knock, breathe, shine and seek to mend;
That I may rise, and stand, oérthrow me, and bend
Your force, to break, blow, burn and make me new.
I, like an usurp’d town, to another due,
Labour to admit You, but Oh, to no end!
